“After residing for 2 years in New York City, Lluc Casares felt the need to take what he experienced to his hometown, Barcelona. 2 years at the Juilliard School studying with masters such as Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Washington or Ben Wolfe have made Lluc expand his knowledge and link with the Jazz tradition. That is why this new project seeks, through original compositions and arrangements, both to make the public move their feet and to hear the subtleties of the arrangements, which are thought out very carefully, note by note.
The goal of this new group is also to create a cohesion within the Jazz scene in Barcelona. That is why the Septet has performed monthly at Robadors 23 club since September 2019. Every concert has been a party and on top of it, Lluc promises to bring at least one new piece each time the band performs there. This way, the regulars have the opportunity to witness very close how the Septet evolves month after month.
The music performed by the Septet is completely fresh and original but at the same time very much inspired by Duke Ellington, Joe Newman or Wynton Marsalis. This music will make you listen very carefully to all these details and without noticing it, you won’t be able to stop your feet from moving, from dancing!”
