Acoustic and electric bass player, composer and arranger Giuseppe Campisi grew up in the beautiful Mediterranean island of Sicily, where he developed his passion for music from a young age. He currently lives in Barcelona (Catalonia).
During the course of the years Giuseppe – who has earned a degree Magna Cum Laude in Jazz Composition at Berklee College of Music as well as a masters degree in Jazz Performance at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam – has written for and performed with a wide variety of groups, ranging from small settings to large ensembles and working actively both as a sideman and as a leader of his own projects.
He has played in major festivals and venues, including Umbria Jazz, Umbria Jazz Winter, Bimhuis, Red Light Jazz Fest, Amersfoort Jazz Festival, Grachtenfestival, Catania Jazz, Bflat, International Festival du Luth à Tétouan, Flamenco Biënnale, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ… and he has performed and recorded in Europe and in the United States with artists like George Garzone, Bob Moses, Dick Oatts, Ben Van Gelder, Marcello Pellitteri, Jasper Blom, Jesse van Ruller, Michael Moore…
Giuseppe is an experienced studio player as well.
Besides being featured in several works as a sideman, he published In The Woods (Honolulu Records, 2016), with Fluid Collective, and A Traveler Point of View (Alfamusic, 2019) with his own band.
His latest works include The A’dam Chapter (self-produced, 2020) with Fluid Collective, the EP About Sicily (self-produced, 2020) and Un Imprevisto È La Sola Speranza (The Changes, 2020).
